Eski denboraldia buka zedila nahi izateko arrazoi bat bazegoela aitortzen dut. iosune ta biok, bageneraman hilabete asko bidai ikusgarri hau zeharo prestatzen, ta beldur pxka batekin itzoiten nuen ere, dena ongi aterako ote zenaren zalantzan. Sumendi, izotztegi, urbero, geyser, urjausi eta vikingoen lurralde basatiak. Non eguraldia bizkor aldatzen dena, eguzkia, euria, elurra, haizea, eta hotza, nahiz ta espero zitekeena baino gutxiago. Bertan temperaturak -10 eta 15ºC bitartean mugitzen dira urte osoan zehar. Izotzean, haize epelen tartean harrapaturiko irla majikoa.

Reconozco que una razón había por la que deseaba que acabara la temporada de esquí. Iosune y yo, llevabamos meses preparando minuciosamente este viaje y lo esperaba con cierto temor, deseando que todo saliera bien. La tierra de los volcanes, glaciares, aguas termales, geisers, cascadas, y terreno salvaje vikingo. Dónde el tiempo cambia con cierta rapidez, sol, lluvia, nieve, viento, y frío, aunque no tanto como cabría esperar. Ya que las temperaturas varían entre -10ºC y 15ºC, durante todo el año. Una isla mágica atrapada en los hielos por corrientes templadas. Definitivamente nos gustan los cambios.

I admit there was one reason for wishing the ski season getting over. Iosune and me, have been working very hard on this trip for a long time, and I was getting more nervous as its time was getting closer, hoping it was going to be OK. The land of volcanos, glaciers, waterfalls, geysirs, hot springs, and wild vikings. Here the weather changes easily fast from sun to rain, snow, wind, calm, and cold, but not as much as it could be expected. Temperature moves between -10ºC and 15ºC all over the year. A magic island trapped under ice by warm draughts. Definitely we like changes.

Irla kurioski bi plaka tektoniko kontinentalengatik zatiturik dago, Iparamerikakoa ta Euroasiatikoa. Urtero bata bestetik 2zm hurruneratzen dira.

La isla está curiosamente dividida por dos placas tectónicas continentales diferentes, la Norteamericana y la Euroasiática. Cada año 2 cms se alejan una de otra. 

Iceland is curiously divided by two continental tectonic plates, the Northamerican and the Euroasian one. Every year they move away from each other 2 cms.

Sumendiko harriengatik geien bat eztalita dago, bertan landaretza hazitzeko zaila du sarri.
 
Está cubierta mayoritariamente por piedra volcánica, donde la vegetación debe hacer un gran esfuerzo por hacerse hueco. 

Its covered almost totally by volcanic rocks, where plants hardly can even grow.

Edozein lekutik irlaren bixotzean berotutako urek azaleratzen dira, 

Bláa lóniðko (laku urdina) bainuetxean bezala.

Everywhere hot springs flow through surface, from the burning inside of the island. Like in the geothermal spa of Bláa lónið (Blue Lagoon).

Skógafoss.

60 metroko erorketa du. Etengabe sortzen duen bitsagatik, hortzadar bakarra edo bikoitza ikusi daiteke normalean egun eguzkitsuetan.

 

Tiene una caida de 60m. Debido a la cantidad de espuma que produce constantemente, un arcoiris simple o doble es normalmente visible en los días soleados.

With a fall of 60 meters. Due to the amount of foam produced constantly, a simple or double rainbow is regularly seen in sunny days.

Landaretza bertan irauteko tresna nahikoak dituzte.
 La vegetación está dotada de recursos suficientes para la supervivencia.

Plants are gifted with enough resources for their survival.

Irla inguratzen duen errepide nazional lehena, mundu basati ezberdinen artetik igarotzen den bidai batera eramaten gaitu. Orain ilunabarra gaueko 11:00tan izaten da ta  egunsentia goizeko 3:00tan, guztiz ilundu gabe. Aurora borealak ikustea ezinezkoa da orain, baino amaigabe bihurtzen diren arratsaldeetan zeruan isladatzen diren argiek ere ikusteko oso egokiak dira.


La carretera circular nacional nº1, nos traslada en un viaje a través de mundos salvajes muy diferentes. En esta época el sol se pone a las 11:00p.m. y sale a las 3:00a.m., sin llegar a oscurecer. Observar las auroras boreales resulta imposible, pero los atardeceres perpétuos proyectan luces en el cielo dignas de disfrutar.

The ring road nº1, brings us into a trip through different wild worlds. At this period, sunset is at 11:00pm and sunrise at 3:00am, without almost getting dark. Seeing northern lights is imposible right now, but the eternal evenings project such an amazing lights worth seeing.

Artikoko txori honek, animal munduan egiten den urteroko migraziorik luzeena egiteagatik ezaguna da. Bere bizi osoan eginiko bidai guztiak, ilargira egindako 3 joan ta etorri beste dira. 

El charrán ártico es conocido por hacer la migración anual más larga en el reino animal. Sus viajes equivalen a tres viajes de ida y vuelta a la luna durante toda su vida. 

The Artic Tern is known for doing the largest anual migration among animal kingdom. It travels in life like 3 times go and back to the moon.

 

 Hego kostaldean, Vikeko hondartza dugu, bere are beltzagatik eta arkaitz eraketengatik famatua. 

La playa de Vik, en la costa sur, es famosa por su arena negra y sus formaciones rocosas.

At south coast, there's the beach of Vik. Famous because of its black sand and rock formations.

Grimsvötn sumendiak, gure bidaia zapustu izan nahi zuena, gure irteera baino 10 egun lehenago arte, zerura errautsa jausi izan zuenean, bere ingurune guztietan zehar pilaka errautza utzi du, ta haizearekin bat eginez gero, gidatzeari emozio handiagoa ematen dio...

El volcán Grimsvötn, que trato de aguar nuestro viaje expulsando ceniza hasta 10 días antes de nuesta salida, ha dejado en sus alrededores toneladas de ceniza depositada en el suelo, que combinadas con rachas de viento, le pone más emoción a la conducción... 

 

Grimsvötn volcano, which tried to cancel our trip throwing ash all over the sky until 10 days before our departure, has let tones of ash piled up on the floor in its surroundings, which in addition to the strong wing, gives some emotion while driving...

Svartifoss

Sumendiko jatorriaz, bere izena ematen diotenak, zutabe basaltiko hexagonal beltzez inguratua dago. Urjausi beltza.

Está rodeada por columnas basálticas hexagonales negras, de origen volcánico, que le dan su nombre. Cascada negra.

It is surrounded by dark hexagonal lava columns, which give rise to its name. Black waterfall.

Pareko eraketak IparIrlandako Erraldoien igarobidean eta Eskoziako Staffa irlan ere aurkitu ditzazkegu.

Formaciones similares a esta se encuentran en la Calzada de los gigantes en Irlanda del Norte y en la isla de Staffa en Escocia.

Similar well-known lava formations are seen at the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland, and on the island of Staffa in Scotland.
